Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept insurance?
Optimum Joy Counseling is a private practice. While we do not directly bill insurance companies, we can provide you with super bills (claim forms) that you can submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement. We recommend contacting your insurance company directly to inquire about out-of-network benefits before your first appointment.
How long are therapy sessions?
Standard individual therapy sessions are 50 minutes in length. We also offer longer 85-minute sessions for couples or family therapy, or for clients needing more in-depth work.
What should I expect in my first session?
Your first session will typically involve an intake process. You'll have the opportunity to share your background, reasons for seeking therapy, and your treatment goals. Your therapist will gather essential information to understand your situation and begin tailoring the therapeutic approach to your needs. This session usually lasts about 90 minutes.
How do I know if you're the right therapist for me?
Choosing a therapist is a personal process. We encourage you to schedule an initial consultation to see if you feel comfortable and understood. If, after the first session or two, you feel that our therapeutic approach isn't a good fit, we kindly ask that you provide a 48-hour notice so we can assist in finding another provider for you.
What therapeutic approaches do you use?
Our therapists utilize a range of evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), mindfulness-based techniques, and psychodynamic approaches. Treatment is tailored to your specific needs and goals.
